COMMUNICATING WITHOUT SPEAKING

FRENCH RESISTANCE

During the Occupation, members of the Resistance had to transmit information without attracting attention.

  • Talking could be intercepted.
  • Movements were monitored.
  • Checks were frequent.

To limit the risks, some resistance fighters used:

  • Subtle gestures
  • Visual signals
  • Simple codes (objects, attitudes, movements)

The goal: to communicate quickly, quietly, without proof.

WHY THERE ARE SIGNS?

  • Avoid being eavesdropped on and denounced
  • Transmit a message in the presence of the enemy
  • Leave no written record
  • React quickly in dangerous situations

In a tense environment, silence became a tool for survival.

YOUR MISSION: TRANSMIT WITHOUT BEING DETECTED

You play a member of the Resistance in the Manche region, near Quinéville, during the Occupation.

Like many Resistance fighters affiliated with networks linked to the French Forces of the Interior, you must transmit vital information… without attracting attention.

CONTEXT :

You are on a street under surveillance.

Airplanes are flying overhead. An alert could sound at any moment.

👉 Speaking is too risky.

INSTRUCTION :

  • Watch the video of the signs
  • Memorize the message
  • Report it to the mission validation
